September 2020 Month in Review: The Most Boring Capital Ever, How (Not) to Hitchhike Busses, and Murder Mystery Mondays

Montenegro travel tips

Hello from sunny Montenegro!

I’m writing this in the last week of September here and I can’t believe how warm it still is in these parts! We just finished our trip around the southern coast and every day it was around 33 C (92 F) 🥵

For me, September has always been the first season of autumn, when we went back to school, the leaves started turning orange and falling off trees, and Pumpkin Spice Lattes were everywhere. I guess 2020 is an exception.
(By the way, do you guys buy into the PSL hype? Let me know in the comments!)

If last month was entirely about Ukraine, then this month is going to be entirely about Montenegro. Idemo! :)  Continue reading

August 2020 Month In Review: Exploring My Home Country and A New Addition to the Family

St Andrews Descent church

Whew, can you believe it’s the end of summer?

As I’m writing this blog post, it sure doesn’t feel like it! Right now I’m in Kyiv, where it’s a sizzling 32 C (90F) but ironically it was raining just an hour ago as we sat in this coffee shop, and later tonight we’re going to have thunderstorms again. It feels like today’s weather is 2020 in a nutshell, isn’t it?

I wrote last month that I planned to do more traveling around Ukraine (my home country) and I fulfilled my promise! This blog post is going to be exclusively about Ukraine and some of the most interesting spots I visited, ate at, and saw.

Ready? Let’s dive right into it!

July 2020 Month In Review: Roadtripping Through South Turkey, Returning Back to Ukraine, and What’s Next

Coronavirus grafitti Sirince Turkey

Hello hello, my dear adventurers! Long time no see, right?

If you’ve been hanging around this blog for a long time, you might remember some of my previous month in review blog posts (and year in review posts, but that’s a different story).

Now that I have some free time (and the fact that my life is more interesting than it was 2 years ago 🙃), it’s time to bring it back!

To give you a little backstory: At the beginning of spring, we planned to do a month-long road trip across Turkey, starting in Istanbul and ending somewhere along the Turkish Riviera (Antalya or Izmir). We packed our bags, bought a one-way ticket, and voila.

The first three weeks were going as planned: we spent 10 days exploring Istanbul and getting to know it better (it’s one of my favorite cities in the world!), then ferried over to Bursa, saw some modern art in Eskisehir, wandered aimlessly around Ankara, and took a flight to Trabzon.

And then coronavirus hit. Hard. Continue reading

JANUARY 2019: Month in Review

Happy 2019, my dear adventurers!

It’s a new year, which means new resolutions – what are your goals for this year?
One of my biggest blogging goals for 2019 is to post a Month in Review and talk about what’s new in my life and travels. Hopefully it’ll be a nice chance to open up, connect, and keep track of my goals and successes for the month. Plus I can always come back and re-read this when I’m 85 and bored. ;)

Anyway, let’s grab some coffee, get comfortable, and talk about January!

Month in Review : September 2017 – From San Francisco to North Korea

Helllooo and welcome to my second Month in Review!

How was your guys’ September? I can’t believe fall is already here: even though I live in the Bay Area, it almost looks like a scene straight out of New England. There are so many different orange, yellow, and brown leaves falling in my neighborhood… but it’s still so freaking hot in San Francisco!
(Our summers are reversed: it’s cold in August and hot in September, wtf 😭)

Anyway, I’m not complaining at all. I can’t wait to pull out all of the scarves and coats from my closet and finally put them to good use – and go on all sorts of fall adventures in California.

Ready to see what else I did this month? Let’s check out what happened in September!

Month in Review : August 2017 – My First Month & Third Wonder of the World

Helllloooo and welcome to my first Month in Review!

I’ve been meaning to do a blog post series like this for a while now, and finally got around to doing it. Since I don’t post as frequently as I would like to, hopefully these monthly reviews will give you a better glimpse into my life.
(and in the meantime, guilt me into actually posting more often)

This series is going to be very casual and similar to what I would normally write as a WhatsApp message or a long wall of text to a friend. Also don’t be surprised if you see more emojis than you were expecting to, I can finally let loose 😛

Ready? Let’s check out what happened in August!
